LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carmen Della Bella upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2014 Charles R. Wood Award by the
Charles R. Wood Theater

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Carmen Della Bella has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Carmen Della
Bella upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2014
Charles R. Wood Award by the Charles R. Wood Theater for her dedication
to organizations throughout her community; an award ceremony and gala
will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Hiland
Park Country Club in Queensbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Charles R. Wood Award, now in its 4th year, is
presented to an individual from the greater Glens Falls, New York, area
who embodies qualities Charles R. Wood possessed, including a philan-
thropic spirit, vision, intelligence, solid business sense, community-
mindedness, generosity, and gratitude; Carmen Della Bella is such an
individual; and
WHEREAS, Carmen Della Bella has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For more than eight years, Carmen Della Bella played a crit-
ical role in the formation of several programs at Double H Hole in the
Woods Ranch in Lake Luzerne, New York; she served as volunteer coordina-
tor while also working on the creation of an elder hostel program, where
seniors stay and volunteer at the ranch; and
WHEREAS, Carmen Della Bella has also served on the Glens Falls Hospi-
tal Board of Governors, was a founding trustee for Glens Falls Hospital
Foundation, and served as president for two terms with the Glens Falls
Hospital Guild; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Carmen Della Bella volunteered for Cindy's
Comfort Camp, a service of Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls
Hospital, serving as the admissions coordinator for nine years; and
WHEREAS, A volunteer of St. Mary's/St. Alphonsus Catholic School,
Carmen Della Bella has supported the Wait House, and served as a past
board member of Community, Work & Independence; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Carmen Della Bella has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Carmen Della Bella has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carmen Della Bella upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Charles R. Wood Award by the Charles R. Wood Theater;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carmen Della Bella.
