LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the life of Damon W. Janes

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to memorialize and
honor those young citizens of the State of New York whose cherished
lives have tragically been cut short; and
WHEREAS; Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is moved this day to memori-
alize, honor, and pay tribute to the life of Westfield-Brocton football
player Damon W. Janes; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 21, 1997, to Dean W. Janes and Penny L.
Gilbert-Robinson of Brocton, New York, Damon William Janes was a beloved
son, brother, and friend; and
WHEREAS, Damon W. Janes, a junior at Brocton Central School, was loved
and admired by his friends, family, and community; he will forever be
remembered as a motivated and enthusiastic young man with an infectious
joy and electric personality; he was a natural leader with a passionate
love of life who was known for his fortitude and dedication to whatever
he put his mind to; and
WHEREAS, Damon W. Janes was a star athlete who enjoyed motocross,
fishing, hunting, football, soccer, basketball, ice skating, and snow
boarding; he made a full effort with everything he did in life and thor-
oughly embodied his motto of "Giving up is simply not an option"; he was
an avid dirt bike rider who started changing the oil in his bike at the
age of seven; he loved to make those around him laugh, and, a true coun-
try boy, was proud of his skillful and creative ingenuity; and
WHEREAS, Damon W. Janes will remain in the hearts and prayers of those
who knew and loved him; the tremendous positive influence he had on so
many in so few years will forever endear him to those touched by his
life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly memori-
alize and pay tribute to those individuals whose lives have inspired,
motivated, and uplifted us; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor, remember, and celebrate the life of Damon W. Janes; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Damon W. Janes.
