LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the profes-
sion of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
WHEREAS, The profession of speech-language pathology and audiology was
enacted into law in New York State 40 years ago by Chapter 1055 of the
Laws of 1974; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those who work diligently to improve the quality of life of
others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
applaud speech-language pathologists and audiologists as they observe
and celebrate this occasion; and
WHEREAS, New York State recognizes and values the efforts of all who
work to eliminate or minimize the isolating effects of communication
disorders in the one in 10 families affected by them; and
WHEREAS, Citizens of New York State who have overcome communication
disabilities through the services of dedicated speech-language patholo-
gists and audiologists should be recognized for their accomplishments as
well; and
WHEREAS, Speech-language pathology and audiology services throughout
our state and nation help to enable and empower individuals with commu-
nication disorders to lead independent, productive, and fulfilling
lives; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association is
proud and honored to represent the interests of the speech-language
pathologists and audiologists offering quality services to New York
State citizens; and
WHEREAS, The observance of the 40th Anniversary of the Profession of
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in New York State provides an
opportunity to raise public awareness, knowledge and understanding of
communication disorders, and for all citizens to recognize the achieve-
ments of speech-language pathologists and audiologists in improving the
quality of life for people with communication disorders; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Profession of Speech-Language
Pathology and Audiology in New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
