LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David Baker upon the occasion of his
designation as a recipient of the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior
Scholar Athlete Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor David Baker
upon the occasion of his designation as a recipient of the 2014 Mid-Hud-
son Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award, which was celebrated
on May 28, 2014, at its 16th Annual Recognition Breakfast; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, David Baker has distinguished
himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, David Baker, a student at Wallkill Senior High School in
Wallkill, New York, is ranked 2nd in his class, and has participated in
Varsity Football for three years, and Varsity Basketball for two years;
and
WHEREAS, The Salutatorian of his class, David Baker is active in
National Honor Society, and the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation
(HOBY), and is Captain of his Football Team; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior
Scholar Athlete Award, David Baker was the recipient of the Pride of
Wallkill Award; and
WHEREAS, David Baker plans to attend United States Military Academy,
West Point, Duke University, or Wheaton College, and major in history or
engineering; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, David Baker has
brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, David Baker may stand with pride in his achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, David Baker represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David Baker upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Mid-Hudson Athletic League Senior Scholar Athlete Award, and to
wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Baker.
