LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marcus Hughes upon the occasion of his
stepping down as coach of the Cornwall High School Varsity Football Team

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend athletic
coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State and who have
distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding commit-
ment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marcus Hughes upon the occasion of his stepping down as coach of the
Cornwall High School Varsity Football Team after seven years of
outstanding service; and
WHEREAS, Marcus Hughes was the head coach of the Cornwall High School
Varsity Football Team from 2007 through 2013; and
WHEREAS, In his seven seasons as head coach, Marcus Hughes was the
winningest coach in Section 9 with a 67-13 record; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marcus Hughes won six Section 9 Class A titles with
Cornwall and led his team to the semifinals of the Class A state play-
offs in 2011, 2012 and 2013; and
WHEREAS, Respected as both a coach and an educator, Coach Marcus
Hughes has been a tremendous positive influence and responsible for
turning boys into men, not only on the football field but off the field
as well; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Erin, and his daugh-
ters, Trenity, Tessa and Tiana, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marcus Hughes has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of Cornwall High School, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marcus Hughes upon the occasion of his stepping down as coach of
the Cornwall High School Varsity Football Team after seven years of
outstanding service, and to wish him the best of luck in the future; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Marcus Hughes.
