LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Pastoral Anniversary of
Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell and his wife, First Lady Vivienne Mitchell,
on April 26, 2014

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 25th
Pastoral Anniversary of Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell and his wife, First
Lady Vivienne Mitchell, on Saturday, April 26, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell is
third of seven sons born to Alfred and Myrtle Mitchell; he and his fami-
ly moved to the United States in 1971; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell earned an Associate's degree in
Liberal Arts from Queensborough Community College, as well as a Certif-
icate in Theology from Kent Christian College External Study Program;
and
WHEREAS, A resident of Nassau County, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell has
been happily married to his loving wife, Vivienne Mitchell, for 32
years; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell was appointed Pastor of New Life
Tabernacle Church of Brooklyn, New York in April of 1989, during which
time the church had 12 active members; he continues to serve as the
church's Pastor today, with a current membership of 1200 people and an
average weekly attendance of 1300; and
WHEREAS, In addition, 11 satellite churches have been established
throughout different communities of Brooklyn, New York as a result of
Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell's ministry; and
WHEREAS, A true visionary and evangelist, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell
preaches and teaches at camps and crusades on the local, district,
national and international levels including South Korea, England and
Ethiopia; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell has held several offices in the
United Pentecostal Church International, some of which include, Youth
President of the New York Metro District, Section No. 2 Secretary for
the New York Metro District, member of both The General Youth Committee
and Black Evangelism Committee, Home Missions Director of the New York
Metro District, and Northeast Regional Home Missions Director; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he currently serves on the General Sunday School
Division Pastoral Advisor Committee for the United States Church Inter-
national, and is the Section No. 2 Presbyter for the New York Metro
District; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell completed his first book, BREAD
CRUMBS VOLUME 1, in 2005, and one year later he produced BREAD CRUMBS
VOLUME 2; in 2007, he released his latest book, INSIDE-OUT MODERATION:
LIVING MODESTLY IN AN IMMORAL WORLD, for the youth of today in the hope
that his message will inspire all to reclaim a modest lifestyle of
decency in the midst of an immoral world; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,

while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Pastoral Anniversary of Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell
and his wife, First Lady Vivienne Mitchell, on April 26, 2014, noting
his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to
God, man, and his community, and extending to him the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bishop Micheal A. Mitchell and his wife, First Lady Vivienne
Mitchell.
