LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of IGNITE,
Cayuga County's Young Professionals

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commem-
orate the 10th Anniversary of IGNITE, Cayuga County's Young Profes-
sionals, to be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the A.T.
Walley and Co. Restaurant, Auburn, New York; and
WHEREAS, IGNITE, Cayuga County's Young Professionals is a membership
driven organization dedicated to connecting people and ideas, while
enhancing the value of living and working in Cayuga County; it offers
young professionals the opportunity to become socially, politically, and
culturally involved with what is happening in the community; and
WHEREAS, Over the past ten years, IGNITE has helped young profes-
sionals who are new to the Cayuga County area adapt and thrive through
social gatherings, volunteerism, and special events; its members provide
advice to new residents on making the best of their experience in the
area; they are also helpful in bringing together people with similar
interests and goals; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable group is committed to giving back to the
community through its numerous special events; IGNITE the Winter!, a
festival now in its third year, has brought the people of Auburn, New
York, together, drawing on businesses and nonprofits to create an event
that celebrates civic pride through food, music, art, and games; in
addition, the IGNITE the Vote campaign has helped educate voters and
encourage greater interest in local elections; and
WHEREAS, IGNITE members are involved in many volunteer activities, and
participate in numerous local charity fundraisers; they worked with the
Auburn Beautification Committee to install a new welcome sign, and have
raised money for such worthy causes as the Christmas Elf program; and
WHEREAS, This enterprising group's members also serve on community
boards and in leadership roles with such organizations as the Red Cross,
the United Way, and the Auburn Education Foundation; and
WHEREAS, A true contributor to the quality of life for the people of
Cayuga County, IGNITE continues its mission to build a network of
diverse individuals to inspire creativity and social engagement by young
professionals for the betterment of all in the region; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when associ-
ations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of IGNITE, Cayuga County's Young
Professionals; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to IGNITE, Cayuga County's Young Professionals.
