LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Zone 4 Landscape Designs upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the Business of the Year Award
by the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce on May 21, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Zone
4 Landscape Designs upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Business of the Year Award by the Central Catskills Chamber of
Commerce in recognition of its exceptional leadership and commitment to
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Zone 4 Landscape Designs will be honored by the Central Cats-
kills Chamber of Commerce at its Annual Awards Dinner, to be held at the
Hanah Country Resort and Spa in Margaretville, New York, on Wednesday,
May 21, 2014; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for gardening, Mel Bellar established Zone 4
Landscape Designs in the spring of 2005; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to the community, Zone 4 Landscape Designs
collaborates with its clients to find solutions to their landscaping
needs and dreams to make their gardens both beautiful and functional;
and
WHEREAS, Beginning its 10th year of business, Zone 4 Landscape Designs
gives back to its community by using native materials and sharing know-
ledge with its residents, as well as through participation in local
events and projects; and
WHEREAS, Mel Bellar of Zone 4 Landscape Designs is very active in the
New York Botanical Garden's Landscape Design Student Alumni Association
and the New York Chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape
Developers; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he frequently speaks of gardening and landscape
design at local organizations some of which include, Franklin Garden
Club Lecture Series, Agroforestry Center at the Greene County Cornell
Cooperative Extension, Catskill Continuing Adult Learning, Andes Round
Table, Delhi Beautification Committee, Skene Memorial Library, Catskill
Women's Network and the Seminars for Seniors; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Mel Bellar has worked on public garden and
landscape projects in the Village of Fleischmanns and the Town of Andes
where he created beautiful and inviting public spaces using locally
produced materials and plants native to the beautiful Catskills; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges Zone 4 Landscape Designs' success, recognizes its contributions to
the local and state economies, and extends its highest commendation to
the corporation and its employees, fully confident that, in its future,
it will enjoy the same success which has so characterized its past; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Zone 4 Landscape Designs upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Business of the Year Award by the Central Catskills
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mel Beller, Zone 4 Landscape Designs.
