LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Millie Tomidy-Pepper upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the 2014 Constance E. Miller Award of
Excellence by the Mental Health Association in Genesee County on May 6,
2014
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Millie Tomidy-Pepper has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Millie Tomi-
dy-Pepper upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2014
Constance E. Miller Award of Excellence by the Mental Health Association
in Genesee County to be celebrated at its annual meeting on Tuesday, May
6, 2014, at Terry Hills Restaurant and Banquet Facility, Batavia, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Constance E. Miller Award of Excellence is given annually
to an individual or an organization that demonstrates a commitment to
excellence pertinent to the delivery and/or advocacy of quality communi-
ty-based mental health services within Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, Millie Tomidy-Pepper has truly been the voice of mental
health in Genesee County for the past several years; as Executive Direc-
tor of the Mental Health Association, her advocacy for the mentally ill
has taken her above and beyond the call of duty time and time again; and
WHEREAS, Millie Tomidy-Pepper has been a member of the original Trauma
Task Force and the Mental Health Sub-committee of the Community Services
Board; and
WHEREAS, Millie Tomidy-Pepper was instrumental in the expansion of the
services of the Mental Health Association due to her strategic thinking
and her grassroots approach to assisting individuals with mental
illness; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding woman's focus is upon mental wellness which
has consistently involved addressing the whole person not just the
person's illness; and
WHEREAS, Millie Tomidy-Pepper has advocated for the rights of consum-
ers who have been turned away from the more traditional helping venues;
she has brought an energy to the Mental Health Association which has
showed others what should be done for those who need help; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Millie Tomidy-Pepper has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Millie Tomidy-Pepper upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2014 Constance E. Miller Award of Excellence by the
Mental Health Association in Genesee County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Millie Tomidy-Pepper.
