LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim May 19-23, 2014, as Volunteer Firefighter and EMS Week in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those dedicated citizens of the State of New York who provide
vital firefighting and emergency medical rescue services; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 19-23, 2014, as Volunteer
Firefighter and EMS Week in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Firefighters and EMS and Ambulance personnel are an
important part of the safety net of America's healthcare system; they
provide lifesaving care to those in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a
week; and
WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the
survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or
injury; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Firefighters and EMS and Ambulance personnel work
tirelessly to bring the best quality of care to the residents of their
local communities; and
WHEREAS, Each and every citizen who is, or has been, involved in the
Volunteer Fire Department, EMS Service, or Community Ambulance Corps of
their community is deserving of the highest commendation for their
contributions to the self-sacrificing missions of these lifesaving
organizations; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 19-23, 2014, as
Volunteer Firefighter and EMS Week in the State of New York; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York.
