LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Boy Scouts of America Troop 168 of
Worcester upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Top Award at the West Point Scoutmasters Council Camporee
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations that are devoted to instilling in youth
the values of community service and civic responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Boy Scouts of America Troop 168 of Worcester, New York, upon the occa-
sion of their designation as recipients of the Top Award at the West
Point Scoutmasters Council Camporee held on May 2-4, 2014, at Lake
Frederick, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Boys Scouts of America Troop 168 members received this
prestigious award for their efforts in competitions at the West Point
Scoutmasters Council Camporee, including knot tying, and first aid; they
competed against thousands of Scouts from more than 200 troops around
the country; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Boys Scouts of America Troop 168 received an
engraved sword from the United States Military Academy for their accom-
plishments; and
WHEREAS, The Boys Scouts of America Troop 168 are proud of how well
their troops pulled together, cooperated, and trained to be their best;
and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has
provided boys and young men the opportunities to learn skills and to
take part in adventures; a Scout learns to camp and hike, and how to
live in the outdoors; a Scout also learns about the world around us and
studies citizenship in the community, in the Nation, and in the world;
scouting also gives a boy the experiences and responsibilities to help
him mature as a strong and confident adult; scouting is a doorway to
lifelong friendships; and
WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America Troop 168 has been and continues to
be an asset to the community; in addition to the service projects, the
troop has developed many young boys into responsible adults through the
teaching of Scouting ideals and training; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to add its commendation and
congratulations on this notable occasion, recognizing the proud history,
exemplary efforts and promising future of the Boy Scouts of America
Troop 168 and its dedicated leadership who have given so selflessly,
with meritorious achievement, in contributing to the education and
development of the youth of their community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Boy Scouts of America Troop 168 of Worcester upon the occasion
of their designation as recipients of the Top Award at the West Point
Scoutmasters Council Camporee; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 168.
