LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ron Gorney upon the occasion of being
named a 2014 honoree by the Cayuga Community Health Network at its Mind,
Body and Spirit Luncheon on June 5, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ron Gorney has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ron Gorney
upon the occasion of being named a 2014 honoree by the Cayuga Community
Health Network at its Mind, Body and Spirit Luncheon on Thursday, June
5, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Ron Gorney will be honored for his vision and determination
leading to the development and implementation of the Brush to Crush
Dental Initiative; the program is working on its fourth year of provid-
ing vital and critical service to the students of Casey Park and Genesee
Elementary Schools; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Ron Gorney, the Brush to
Crush Dental Initiative's practical application focuses on understanding
the cause of tooth decay and how to prevent it, the importance of oral
hygiene, tooth brushing and flossing instructions, and tooth brush stor-
age; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Brush to Crush Cavities program is providing
service to more than 900 children within the participating schools, and
is proven to help in the prevention of tooth decay; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Tully High School, Ron Gorney grew up in Otis-
co, New York, as one of ten children; he holds an Associate of Science
degree from SUNY Delhi, as well as a bachelor's degree, Master's degree
in Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Study all from SUNY Cort-
land; and
WHEREAS, After serving for two years as a Vice Principal at Union
Endicott, Ron Gorney has been with the Auburn Enlarged School District
for 11 years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ron Gorney has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife, Jennifer, and
their three beautiful children, Gaven, Maddox and Morgan, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Ron Gorney has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ron Gorney upon the occasion of being named a 2014 honoree by the
Cayuga Community Health Network at its Mind, Body and Spirit Luncheon on
June 5, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ron Gorney.
