LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Annie R. Metcalf of North Collins
Jr.-Sr. High School, upon the occasion of being named New York State
High School Principal of the Year by the School Administrators Associ-
ation of New York State

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and recognize
those dedicated individuals, who strive to enhance the quality of educa-
tion for our students, and whose accomplishments, character, and commu-
nity commitment inspire all citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Annie R. Metcalf of North Collins Jr.-Sr. High School, upon the occasion
of being named New York State High School Principal of the Year by the
School Administrators Association of New York State; she was honored at
an awards ceremony on Friday, May 9, 2014, in Latham, New York; and
WHEREAS, The School Administrators Association of New York State
(SAANYS) is committed to providing strong legislative advocacy, legal
support, and professional growth opportunities; its mission has always
been to support administrators with the best in representation and
service; and
WHEREAS, The New York State High School Principal of the Year Award is
given annually to a member of SAANYS who has set the pace, character,
and quality of education for the students in his or her school; nominees
are administrators who are committed to students, parents, and the
community and have shown exceptional contributions to the educational
process; and
WHEREAS, Since 2005, Annie R. Metcalf has served admirably as princi-
pal at North Collins Jr.-Sr. High School; during this time, she revital-
ized the educational environment at her school, emphasizing collab-
oration, responsibility, tolerance and respect for all; and
WHEREAS, Annie R. Metcalf transformed a previously low performing
North Collins Jr.-Sr. High School into one which was selected as a
Reward School for Educational Excellence by New York State and a Silver
Medal school by US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has been an able facilitator of her
district's Educational Advisory Committee, bringing together staff,
parents, and fellow administrators to create and measure goals for the
enhancement of instruction and student learning; and
WHEREAS, Annie R. Metcalf's efforts have raised the standards of
learning in her school, and made it possible for numerous students to
find success when others may have written them off; and
WHEREAS, With this award, Annie R. Metcalf is now eligible for the
National High School Principal of the Year Award, given in Washington,
D.C.; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Annie R. Metcalf of North Collins Jr.-Sr. High School, upon the
occasion of being named New York State High School Principal of the
Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Annie R. Metcalf.
