LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Felix
Schoeller North America, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the economic
health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Felix Schoeller North America to be cele-
brated with an Open House and Reception held at its plant in Pulaski,
New York, on July 19, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Felix Schoeller North America is a subsidiary of the Germa-
ny-based Felix Schoeller Group; in 1964, a joint venture was formed
between Simpson Lee Paper Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Felix
Schoeller Jr. of Germany; operation started under the name of Lee
Schoeller Paper Company in Pulaski, New York; Pulaski is also home to
the North American sales and marketing staff; and
WHEREAS, The Lee-Schoeller Paper Company operated its production
facility until 1968 when Simpson Lee Paper pulled out of the partnership
and its shares got sold to Mead Corporation; it was then the company was
renamed to Schoeller Technical Papers, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Felix Schoeller bought out Mead Corporation and took
over 100% ownership of the company; later the company was renamed to
Felix Schoeller North America, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Wholly owned subsidiary of the German parent, today Felix
Schoeller North America is primarily a specialty paper converting and
distribution operation servicing the digital printing, release liner and
specialty papers markets; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of President/CEO Michael Szidat,
Felix Schoeller North America has been in the business of manufacturing
imaging papers for leading technologies for photo-quality printing for
five decades; and
WHEREAS, Felix Schoeller North America is the market leader in print-
ing papers for the digital photography and graphics and display markets
in North America; and
WHEREAS, With over 300 direct and indirect employees, Felix Schoeller
North America is the second largest employer in Pulaski and the fourth
largest manufacturing company in Oswego County; it is among the largest
private companies in Oswego County; in 2014, it created 173 new jobs,
more than doubling the company's workforce, showing its confidence in
the local community; and
WHEREAS, A model for local businesses for 50 years, Felix Schoeller
exerts a strong, positive influence in the communities it serves, and is
a crucial element of the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Felix Schoeller North America; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Szidat, President/CEO, Felix Schoeller North America.
