LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Union Springs School Superintendent
Linda Rice upon the occasion of her retirement after many distinguished
years as an educator

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Union Springs
School Superintendent Linda Rice upon the occasion of her retirement
after many distinguished years as an educator; and
WHEREAS, Linda Rice has continually demonstrated an impressive dedi-
cation, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the
quality of the educational programs and opportunities offered in the
Union Springs School District; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure as Superintendent, Linda Rice has provided
outstanding service to the children and families of her community; and
WHEREAS, With a keen sense of responsibility, this esteemed woman
carefully managed school district budgets, keeping increases to a mini-
mum and earning the trust of voters in her district; and
WHEREAS, Linda Rice's leadership was responsible for many successful
initiatives, including the renovation of the Historic Stone Schoolhouse
into a classroom used for Video Production Classes; she also secured a
substantial grant from the Safe Schools/Healthy Students providing
Advantage-After School Programs for Students; and
WHEREAS, A visible member of her community, Linda Rice has been active
in her attendance at athletic events, concerts, award ceremonies and
numerous other social functions; and
WHEREAS, Despite her busy professional life, she has compiled an
impressive record of civic and charitable service, including membership
with such fine organizations as the Auburn Community Hospital Board of
Trustees, the Union Springs Lions Club, and the Partnerships for
Results; and
WHEREAS, Linda Rice has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth of
the Union Springs School District, as well as on the community-at-large,
and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Rice upon the occasion of her retirement as Union Springs
School Superintendent, after many years of dedicated service in educa-
tion, and to wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Rice.
