LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the New York Rangers on their
outstanding 2013-2014 season, and applauding their accomplishments in
the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary athletes and organizations that excel in professional
athletics, distinguishing themselves through notable achievements and
representing the great Empire State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the New York Rangers on their outstanding season and to applaud
their accomplishments in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs; and
WHEREAS, During the 2013-2014 regular season, the New York Rangers
achieved an overall record of 45-31-6, including 25 wins on the road,
setting a new franchise best; and
WHEREAS, In the first round of the playoffs, the New York Rangers
defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in seven games; in the next round, they
rallied from a 3-1 series deficit for the first time in their history,
defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in seven games; and
WHEREAS, The New York Rangers returned this year to the Stanley Cup
Finals for the first time in 20 years, defeating the Montreal Canadiens
to win the Prince of Wales Trophy in the Eastern Conference Finals; and
WHEREAS, The New York Rangers faced off against the Los Angeles Kings;
although falling short in the series 4-1, the team was loyally and
enthusiastically supported by their dedicated fans and the New York
community at large; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by the New York Rangers is due
in great part to the efforts of Head Coach Alain Vigneault, Associate
Coach Scott Arniel, and Assistant Coaches Ulf Samuelsson and Daniel
Lacroix, all skilled and inspirational leaders, respected for their
ability to develop potential into excellence; contributing to the
success of the Rangers is Team Owner James Dolan and General Manager
Glen Sather; and
WHEREAS, One of the oldest teams in the NHL, the New York Rangers have
always been a brotherhood of athletic ability, of good sportsmanship,
and of honor, demonstrating that these team players are among the best
on the ice; and
WHEREAS, The exemplary performance of the members of the New York
Rangers is reflective of their dedication, determination and personal
commitment; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body, representing the people of the State
of New York, is justly proud to bestow upon the members of the New York
Rangers its highest commendation after a tremendous season and a job
well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the New York Rangers, its members: Brian Boyle, Derick
Brassard, Daniel Carcillo, Derek Dorsett, Jesper Fast, Carl Hagelin,
Ryan Haggerty, Chris Kreider, Oscar Lindberg, J.T. Miller, Dominic
Moore, Rick Nash, Benoit Pouliot, Brad Richards, Martin St. Louis, Derek
Stepan, Mats Zuccarello, Raphael Diaz, Justin Falk, Dan Girardi, Kevin
Klein, Ryan McDonagh, John Moore, Marc Staal, Anton Stralman, David
Leneveu, Henrick Lundqvist, and Cam Talbot, Team Owner James Dolan,
General Manager Glen Sather, Head Coach Alain Vigneault, Associate Coach
Scott Arniel, and Assistant Coaches Ulf Samuelsson and Daniel Lacroix on
their outstanding season, and their Stanley Cup appearance; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the New York Rangers, Team Owner James Dolan,
General Manager Glen Sather, Head Coach Alain Vigneault, Associate Coach
Scott Arniel, and Assistant Coaches Ulf Samuelsson and Daniel Lacroix.
