LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gino Alberici upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gino
Alberici upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of West High School and St. Francis Prep, Gino
Alberici earned his B.S. degree from Holy Cross College and later
studied at the graduate level at SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University; he
is a lifelong resident of Auburn-Owasco; and
WHEREAS, Port Byron High School was a powerhouse in football through-
out the career of legendary coach Gino Alberici, a 32 year veteran at
the school, who retired in 1993; he began his career on the 1953 unde-
feated football team at Auburn High School and was named to the All-Am-
erican football team that same year; in addition, he was inducted into
the Auburn High School Hall of Fame in 2003; and
WHEREAS, A Social Studies Teacher for 34 years, Gino Alberici was also
a soccer and basketball coach at Port Byron during his 32 year run; his
Panther teams won a total of 167 games and 13 league titles; and
WHEREAS, Active in the community, Gino Alberici is a member of the
Financial Planning Board of Tompkins Trust Co., Owasco Bicentennial
Committee, Cayuga County Parks Commission, the Board of Directors of the
Neighborhood House, and he is a Eucharistic minister and Lector at
Sacred Heart; he became Town Councilman in January of 2000; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maxine, their six
children, as well as their 17 grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Gino Alberici's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gino Alberici upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gino Alberici.
