LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patricia S. Knapp upon the occasion of
her retirement after many years of distinguished service as Councilwoman
of the Town of Perinton

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Patricia S.
Knapp upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of distin-
guished service as Councilwoman of the Town of Perinton; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving as Deputy Supervisor, Patricia "Pat" Knapp
has been a member of the Town Council since 1981, and was an elected
Fairport Trustee from 1975 to 1981; and
WHEREAS, She founded the Fairport Farmers' Market and established
Village Days, the predecessor to Fairport Canal Days; and
WHEREAS, A life-long resident, Patricia S. Knapp has a strong interest
in involving people with their community, developing good intergovern-
mental relations, and promoting Perinton; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Councilwoman Patricia S.
Knapp, the Town of Perinton has been added to the notable list of "Top
100 Best Places to Live in America"; and
WHEREAS, Patricia S. Knapp has been the recipient of numerous awards
and accolades, including the 2006 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Perinton Chamber of Commerce, and being named a 2002 New York State
Senate Woman of Distinction; and
WHEREAS, Patricia S. Knapp rendered faithful, conscientious and valu-
able service to the Town of Perinton; in her capacity as Councilwoman,
she served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Patricia S. Knapp was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the wellbeing and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patricia S. Knapp upon the occasion of her retirement, and to
extend its best wishes to her in all her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patricia S. Knapp.
