LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market upon
the occasion of its designation as the 2014 Organization of the Year by
the Clarence Chamber of Commerce, on February 27, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of businesses,
organizations, and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Organization of the Year Award by the Clarence
Chamber of Commerce; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the
Chamber's Annual Awards Dinner, to be held on Thursday, February 27,
2014, at Samuel's Grande Manor, Williamsville, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market is being celebrated for
its efforts to grow and help to bring prosperity to the Clarence Hollow
community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2002, the mission of the Clarence Hollow Farmers'
Market is: to provide its community with access to healthy, fresh and
locally produced foods and other specialty products; to raise awareness
of local food production and distribution; to support local farmers and
the "100 Mile Diet"; and to build its community by bringing people
together in an open and engaging atmosphere; and
WHEREAS, The Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market operates each Saturday
from May through October, and supports more than 30 vendors who offer
fresh, locally grown produce and other specialty items; all items for
sale must be grown or produced in New York State; and
WHEREAS, The Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market operates through a 100%
volunteer effort, and relies on fundraising activities, local sponsor-
ships and community support to run its seasonal events and programs; and
WHEREAS, To support its mission, the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market
offers weekly informational and educational programs, fun children's
activities that also provide an education in nutrition and farming, and
annual themed family events such as Fire Safety Day and the popular Farm
and Tractor Day; and
WHEREAS, The Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market has been recognized as a
trendsetter by other Farmers' Markets in the Western New York area,
providing direction on topics such as fundraising, grant writing,
marketing and organization, and offering technical assistance to its
participating vendors; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Clarence
Hollow Farmers' Market; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market upon the occasion of its
designation as the 2014 Organization of the Year by the Clarence Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market.
