LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David W. Atwell upon the occasion of his
retirement from the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of its esteemed
public servants; and
WHEREAS, David Atwell will be honored upon the occasion of his well-
deserved retirement from the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office during a
party to be held on February 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Dave was born and raised in Ballston Spa, and has resided in
the Town of Providence since 1991; and
WHEREAS, He has been a dedicated firefighter for 30 years, having
served with the Union Fire Company in Ballston Spa and the Malta Ridge
Fire Company; and
WHEREAS, Dave is currently a member of the Providence Volunteer Fire
Department and has served as Chief; and
WHEREAS, He has also contributed his time and expertise as past Chair-
man and current Vice Chair of the Saratoga County Fire Advisory Board;
and
WHEREAS, Dave was also an instrumental member of the County Radio
Committee; the efforts of this Committee led to the new radio system
which Saratoga County utilizes today; and
WHEREAS, He is the proud father of Nikkol Melnick and David Atwell,
and the loving grandfather of one grandson, Cody; and
WHEREAS, He has announced his retirement from the Saratoga County
Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center effective February 5, 2014 after 25
years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Dave is the first employee to retire from the Center; and
WHEREAS, His expertise, dedication and longevity of service were
tremendous assets to Saratoga County and an inspiration to his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David Atwell upon the occasion of his retirement, and to thank him
for his many years of dedicated service to Saratoga County; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Atwell.
