LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross
Country Team upon the occasion of winning the Section III Class C Cham-
pionship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through rigorous training, mental and physical discipline, team-
work, and a dedicated coaching staff; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young individuals within our midst who, by achieving outstanding success
in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to their
school district and community; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and developing a sense
of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concerns, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to hereby
recognize and congratulate the Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country
Team upon the occasion of winning the Section III, Class C Championship;
and
WHEREAS, No team can succeed without talent throughout its entire
roster; such is the case for the Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country
Team: Madeline Adams, Alex Clark, Ginny Hamlin, Morel Malcolm, Maria
Schillace, Jennifer DeRosa, Liz Dwyer, Maggie McNeil, Elsa Soderberg,
Makena Gorman, Finan Malcolm, Kaitlyn Neal, Molly Stanton, Jillian Van
Leer, and Julia Willcox; and
WHEREAS, On November 2, 2013, the Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross
Country Team dominated the Section III Class C championship race from
the start line, tallying a total of 45 points to beat 16 other school
districts and clench the championship title; and
WHEREAS, The Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country Team completed
the race with two top 10 finishes over a double-loop course at James-
ville Beach Park, a course in Jamesville, New York, that consisted of
several hills and mud puddles; and
WHEREAS, The Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country Team victory was
the first for Skaneateles in a sectional race since 2006, and its 18th
overall sectional title since the inception of the sport in Skaneateles
in 1977; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by the Skaneateles Girls Varsi-
ty Cross Country Team is in great part due to the efforts of Head Coach-
es Jack Reed and Rob Tuttle, who are skilled and inspirational mentors,
respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the outstanding runners of the
Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country Team proved to be a terrific
combination of talent, posting a spectacular regular season; and
WHEREAS, Head Coaches Jack Reed and Rob Tuttle did a superb job in
guiding, molding and inspiring team members of the Skaneateles Girls
Varsity Cross Country Team toward their goals; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and congratulate the Skaneateles Girls Varsity Cross Country
Team upon winning the Section III Class C Championship; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to each team member and Head Coaches Jack Reed and Rob Tuttle.
