LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 45th Anniversary of the Order
of the DeMolay in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
National observance of its 93rd Anniversary

WHEREAS, A great state is only as great as its citizens and as strong as
its communities, and New York State is among the strongest in the nation
thanks to the individual residents and their unwavering commitment to
improving our quality of life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those individuals and organizations who devote their
purposeful life to serving others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 45th Anniversary of the Order of DeMolay in the State of New
York, in conjunction with the National observance of its 93rd Anniver-
sary; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay can be found not only throughout the
United States but in more than a dozen countries worldwide; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay, founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in
1919, is an international organization for young men ages 12-21; this
essential institute derives its name from Jacques DeMolay, the last
Grand Master of the Knights Templar; and
WHEREAS, This organization is dedicated to preparing young men to lead
happy, successful, and productive lives by developing the civic aware-
ness, personal responsibility and leadership skills so vitally needed in
society today; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay combines this serious mission with a fun
approach which builds important bonds of friendship among its members
locally and worldwide; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay alumni include such distinguished men
as: Walt Disney, John Wayne, Walter Cronkite, and numerous other poli-
ticians, doctors, and professionals, many of whom have spoken eloquently
of the life-changing benefit gained from their involvement in the Order
of DeMolay; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the quality of life in their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high stand-
ards, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the Order of DeMolay in the State of
New York, in conjunction with the National observance of its 93rd Anni-
versary; and be it farther
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Order of DeMolay.
