LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Schuyler Graham for 50 years of dedi-
cated service to the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize brave
citizens who have played a significant role in making our community a
great place to live, and to celebrate the contributions and sacrifices
they have made to our society to ensure the safety and the advancement
of the quality of life for all residents; and
WHEREAS, Within every community in the State of New York, there are
certain individuals who unselfishly devote themselves to public service,
and demonstrate great courage and diligence in providing for the care
and welfare of the citizens of their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
and honor Schuyler Graham for 50 years of dedicated service to the
Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, In September 1963, Schuyler Graham joined the Mandana Fire
Company, one of the Skaneateles Fire Department's fire districts located
outside of the Village of Skaneateles that was officially formed in
1959; and
WHEREAS, During his career, Schuyler Graham was Lieutenant and Captain
of the Mandana Fire Company, and a firefighter for over 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the long history of the Skaneateles Fire Depart-
ment, one thing has remained constant, the dedication, hard-work,
commitment and sacrifices of men and women like Schuyler Graham; and
WHEREAS, Schuyler Graham has volunteered his time year in and year
out, working long hours and sacrificing time with his family to protect
the lives and properties of his neighbors and fellow residents of
Skaneateles; and
WHEREAS, After 50 years, Schuyler Graham still continues to serve the
residents of Skaneateles and surrounding communities; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and honor Schuyler Graham for his 50 years of dedicated
service to the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department, the residents of
Skaneateles and surrounding areas; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Schuyler Graham.
