LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Corn-
ing Area Chamber of Commerce on April 4, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, to
be celebrated at its Centennial Dinner on Friday, April 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, As part of marking this notable milestone, the Corning Area
Chamber of Commerce will be publishing a special commemorative booklet
and directory to share with its community residents and visitors, as
well as restaurants, hotels and local businesses; and
WHEREAS, The Corning Area Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in
1914, and began with the merging of The Northside Business Association,
the Painted Post Board of Trade, and the Greater Corning Area Chamber of
Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce
staff and Board of Directors have dedicated themselves to serving the
needs of its members and the communities it serves; consistently listen-
ing and responding to its members and the business climate, the Chamber
provides business resources, contacts and government advocacy on behalf
of all its members; and
WHEREAS, Empowering its members through a united voice, access and as
a leading business organization, the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce
strives to strengthen and contribute to economic growth and development
through vital community partnerships; and
WHEREAS, The Corning Area Chamber of Commerce is a catalyst to serve
and advance business and community interests of the region, and is the
leading resource which connects member businesses, through providing
resources, education, and access; and
WHEREAS, Relationships, responsiveness, accountability, and integrity
are the foundation of The Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, which
believes businesses have a powerful voice when united, and being a
community partner and proactive leader is essential to its sustainabili-
ty and continued success; and
WHEREAS, For the past 100 years, the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce
has helped the businesses and the community it serves to prosper,
responding with resources and skill to the needs of its area; and
WHEREAS, A solid cornerstone of the community, the Corning Area Cham-
ber of Commerce will continue to evolve and to improve, always seeking
out new ways of serving its members and community; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional organization and its contributions to the local
and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Corning Area Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce.
