LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Knox Family of Amherst, New York,
for their many years of ceaseless dedicated service to Scouting
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Knox Family of Amherst, New York, for their many years of ceaseless
dedicated service to Scouting; and
WHEREAS, Peter Knox, son of Marian and Kenneth Knox, is a Sweet Home
High School Senior who joined his three older brothers and four older
sisters in attaining the highest rank in Scouting during a ceremony on
Saturday, February 22, 2014, at St. Leo the Great Catholic School in
Amherst, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth and Marian Knox have instilled the value of Scouting
in each of their eight children; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Knox has been in Boy Scouts for 27 years, 17 years of
which were spent as a Cubmaster for St. Leo's Troop 431; and
WHEREAS, A Girl Scout for 18 years, Marian Knox also served on the
local committee for Boy Scouts for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, Remarkably, Kurt, Marc, Eric and Peter Knox have each
received the highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, the distin-
guished rank of Eagle Scout, earned by only four percent of all Boy
Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, through their diligence and rigorous efforts,
Tracy Tessier, as well as Wendy, Heidi and Sarah Knox, have each
achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award, Scouting's highest and most presti-
gious honor; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Knox Family of Amherst, New York, for their many years of
ceaseless dedicated service to Scouting; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to each member of the Knox Family.
