LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending New Tang Dynasty Television upon the
occasion of its 6th International Chinese Culinary Competition

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those enduring organizations which faithfully devote their
resources and purposeful energies to improving the quality and dignity
of life in the communities they serve, and to preserving their cultural
heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
New Tang Dynasty Television upon the occasion of its 6th International
Chinese Culinary Competition; this grand event will be held in May 2014,
in New York City's Times Square, as part of the celebration of "Taste
Asia," Asian Restaurant Month in New York; and
WHEREAS, The month of May is recognized annually as Asian Pacific
Heritage Month; the aim of Taste Asia is to honor Asian culinary arts
and culture through celebrating the Asian gastronomic heritage with
chefs and restaurants in New York; and
WHEREAS, New Tang Dynasty (NTD) Television's 6th International Chinese
Culinary Competition will bring traditional Chinese chefs from around
the world to New York City where they will compete for prizes in five
Chinese cuisine categories: Cantonese, Huaiyang, Northeastern, Sichuan,
and Shandong; and
WHEREAS, The 6th International Chinese Culinary Competition will be a
feast for all the senses as top chefs gather at NTD's kitchen stadium
and provide the ultimate showcase in Chinese cooking; and
WHEREAS, The 6th International Chinese Culinary Competition, as well
as Taste Asia, will also showcase the exciting and exceptional cultural
and dining opportunities available in New York City; and
WHEREAS, NTD Television is headquartered in New York City and broad-
casts into mainland China via satellite and Internet; it is a signif-
icant producer of Chinese language media content in the United States,
with 1200 hours of original programming produced in 2012; and
WHEREAS, The rich diversity of Asian and Asian American culture,
language, and food has had a tremendous impact on communities across the
great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend New Tang Dynasty Television upon the occasion of its 6th Inter-
national Chinese Culinary Competition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to New Tang Dynasty Television.
