LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending New York City Police Officer Anthony
Raghubir upon the occasion of being named Police Officer of the Year by
the Sixth Avenue Bible Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in accordance with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
New York City Police Officer Anthony Raghubir upon the occasion of being
named Police Officer of the Year by the Sixth Avenue Bible Baptist
Church in Brooklyn, New York, to be celebrated during a special service
and ceremony on Sunday, March 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Sixth Avenue Bible Baptist Church has been a part of the
Brownstone Brooklyn community for 146 years, and is listed on the regis-
ter of Historic Churches by the Landmarks Preservation Commission; its
congregation is proud to annually host its Police Officer of the Year
awards; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Raghubir earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at
Molloy College in Long Island, New York; he participated in the New York
City Police Department's Police Cadet Corp, which paid for a portion of
his tuition in exchange for two years of service; his love of police
work led him to stay with the NYPD, and he has served for nearly three
years, deeply committed to making a difference in his community; and
WHEREAS, An officer with the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn, Anthony Raghu-
bir is being honored for his outstanding contributions to the Vision
Zero Project, a city-wide initiative to further pedestrian safety by
increasing supervision of high risk traffic areas and issuing greater
summonses to those motorists that violate the law; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man's tremendous efforts have been a key in
improving the safety of streets and intersections in the areas he
patrols; he has issued citations to numerous reckless drivers and has
helped reduce the incidence of unlicensed and uninsured vehicles on city
streets; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberation to
commend New York City Police Officer Anthony Raghubir upon the occasion
of being named Police Officer of the Year by the Sixth Avenue Bible
Baptist Church; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Officer Anthony Raghubir.
