ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION amending Rule III of the Assembly rules, in relation
to the introduction of bills
RESOLVED, That paragraph a of section 2 of Rule III of the Assembly
rules is amended to read as follows:
a. Every bill TO BE introduced in the House shall be in [duplicate] A
DRAFT FORM PRESCRIBED BY THE LEGISLATIVE BILL DRAFTING COMMISSION and
accompanied by the introducer's memorandum [in quadruplicate]. Such bill
DRAFT shall be presented by the introducer to the Index Clerk and deliv-
ered by the Index Clerk to the Office of Assembly Revision for the
purposes set forth in subdivision a of section eight of this Rule. Ther-
eafter, such bill shall be referred to a standing committee, other than
the Committee on Rules, by the Speaker, assigned a number, printed and
placed on the desks of the members CONSISTENT WITH SECTION NINE OF THIS
RULE. The Index Clerk shall, on the day of its introduction, cause such
bill to be transmitted to the printer. A copy of each bill shall be
available [for] TO THE public [inspection in the Office of Assembly
Revision. The Office of Assembly Revision shall maintain a photocopy
machine for use by the public to copy any such bill at a per page price
to be established by the Speaker pursuant to the "Freedom of Information
Law"].
RESOLVED, That section 9 of Rule III of the Assembly rules is renum-
bered section 10 and a new section 9 is added to read as follows:
ยบ 9. PRINTING AND PLACEMENT ON THE DESKS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE
RULES, ANY REQUIREMENT FOR THE COPYING, PRINTING, REPRINTING OR PLACE-
MENT OF BILLS ON THE DESKS OF MEMBERS MAY BE SATISFIED WITH EITHER BILLS
PRINTED ON PAPER OR BILLS IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION
FOURTEEN OF ARTICLE III OF THE CONSTITUTION.
