LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance
Center upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Educa-
tion Partner Award by Nassau BOCES

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of the Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES; and
WHEREAS, This most auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the
Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation's Education Partner Awards Gala on
Wednesday, March 25, 2015; and
WHEREAS, True to its mission, changing lives and shaping the future,
Nassau BOCES partners with school districts and organizations in provid-
ing leadership and the highest quality educational and support services;
this vital organization is committed to ensuring a successful, challeng-
ing, caring and safe environment which enables students of all ages and
abilities to achieve their maximum potential; and
WHEREAS, The Education Partner Award recognizes those individuals or
organizations that have made a substantial impact on public education in
Nassau County; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
organizations such as the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center which
dedicates its mission to the education and nurturing of our most
precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of the Chairman of the Board, Stev-
en Markowitz, the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau
County teaches the history of the Holocaust and its lessons through
education and community outreach; and
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center educates children
on the dangers of anti-Semitism, racism, bullying and all other manifes-
tations of intolerance; this esteemed organization also promotes resist-
ance to prejudice and advocates respect for every human being; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Holocaust
Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay recognition
to those organizations of commitment and high achievement whose purpose
and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in the
education of the youth of this noble Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Education Partner Award by Nassau
BOCES; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center.
