LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Laura Petrovic upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Capital District YMCA President's Award
on April 23, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Laura Petrovic upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Capital District YMCA President's Award, to be celebrated at its Annual
President's Award Dinner, on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the Albany
Marriott, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Laura Petrovic earned a degree in Art History from Trinity
College, Hartford, Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, Laura Petrovic began her career as a Front Desk Agent for
Interstate Hotels, Inc. at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado; upon
her return to her home, she was employed in operations and sales at four
different hotels in both Boston, Massachusetts and Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, With over 25 years of experience in the hotel industry, Laura
Petrovic currently holds the position of Director of Sales and Marketing
at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, In the fall of 2015, Laura Petrovic will take on the role of
Director of Sales and Marketing for the new Renaissance Albany Hotel;
and
WHEREAS, Laura Petrovic is a member of several different professional
organizations, including the CMP Designation, the Empire State Society
of Association Executives, Meeting Professionals International, and both
the Albany Colonie and Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS, An active member of her community, Laura Petrovic volunteers
for numerous organizations and non-profit groups; she is a member of the
boards of the Troy YMCA, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; and
WHEREAS, She also gives of her time and energies to the Arts Center of
the Capital Region, the Rensselaser County and the Albany Colonie
Regional Chambers of Commerce, and the Troy Downtown Business Improve-
ment District, as well as Women's Employment and Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Laura Petrovic has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Laura Petrovic has displayed
throughout her life; she has exhibited the true spirit of this esteemed
award through her tireless dedication to the YMCA and her community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Laura Petrovic upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Capital District YMCA President's Award on April 23, 2015; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Petrovic.
