LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Maryann Riviello Brennan upon the occa-
sion of her designation as recipient of the Capital District YMCA Presi-
dent's Award on April 23, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Maryann Riviello Brennan upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Capital District YMCA President's Award, to be celebrated at
its Annual President's Award Dinner, at the Albany Marriott, Albany, New
York, on Thursday, April 23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, A native of Nutley, New Jersey, Maryann Riviello Brennan
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Journalism and Political
Science at Utica College of Syracuse University, Utica, New York; she
then continued her education by obtaining her Master's degree in Public
Administration from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs
and Policy at the State University of New York at Albany; and
WHEREAS, For the next 15 years of her career, Maryann Riviello Brennan
held several different positions, including Research Analyst, Committee
Director, and Constituent Services Coordinator before assuming the title
of Project Director of the New York State Office for People with Devel-
opmental Disabilities (OPWDD); and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Maryann Riviello Brennan has spent
over 25 years volunteering her gifts of leadership, development, and
commitment to numerous organizations, including the New York State
Breast Cancer Detection and Education Program Advisory Council, the
Junior League of Albany, American Cancer Society Hope Club (formerly
Gilda's Club), the Northeastern New York Komen Race for the Cure, and
most notably, YMCA Camp Chingachgook; and
WHEREAS, Maryann Riviello Brennan's affection for YMCA Camp Chinga-
chgook grew over the course of the 15 years her children spent there as
campers, counselors-in-training, and counselors; they all loved discov-
ering the beauty and magic of an incomparable outdoor education experi-
ence on the eastern shores of Lake George in New York; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, Maryann Riviello Brennan became a volunteer at the
much-loved camp; she helped raise funds for camp scholarships through
the Annual Reach Out for Youth campaign; and
WHEREAS, Prior to being invited to join the YMCA Camp Chingachgook
Board of Advisors in 2011, she participated in several successful
fundraisers in honor of her late mother; since then, she has served as
the Chair of the Annual Youth Scholarship Campaign Team, the Vice Chair
of the Board of Advisors, and currently she holds the position of Chair
of the Board Development Committee; and
WHEREAS, Maryann Riviello Brennan has been the recipient of numerous
awards and accolades for her dedicated service to her community, such as
the Capital District YMCA President's Award, the Annual Promise of One
Outstanding Volunteer Award, and the Sustainer Bowl Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Maryann Riviello Brennan has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Daniel C. Brennan,
Esq., and her two children, Nicholas and Mackenzie, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Maryann Riviello Brennan has
displayed throughout her life; she has exhibited the true spirit of this
esteemed award through her tireless dedication to the YMCA and her
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Maryann Riviello Brennan upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Capital District YMCA President's Award on April 23,
2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Maryann Riviello Brennan.
