LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Vincent Sasso upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Amherst Davis Memorial Farmer Citizen of
the Year Award by the Long Island Farm Bureau
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Vincent Sasso upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Amherst Davis Memorial Farmer Citizen of the Year Award by the Long
Island Farm Bureau, to be celebrated at its 97th Annual Awards Gala on
Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Riverhead Polish Hall, Riverhead, New
York; and
WHEREAS, A second generation owner and member of the DeLea Sod Farm
family, Vincent Sasso has always had a passion for farming; and
WHEREAS, The DeLea family began farming in 1928, and has grown to
include locations across Long Island, southern New Jersey, and Rhode
Island; today, its impressive list of clients includes Citi Field,
Yankee Stadium, Long Island Ducks, and notable golf venues across the
northeast; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Vincent Sasso, DeLea Sod
Farms provides the highest quality grass, soil, and fertilizer while
maintaining its guaranteed long-term integrity and customer satisfac-
tion; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Sasso has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his unwavering commitment to the DeLea Sod
Farm, Vincent Sasso is co-owner of Cherry Creek and The Woods Golf
Courses, where he generously hosts events and fundraisers in his beauti-
ful Stonewalls Restaurant; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast dedication to giving back to his community,
Vincent Sasso is an active member of Long Island Farm Bureau (LIFB) and
served on its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he regularly offers his produce to Island
Harvest Food Bank, civic association fundraisers, or fire department
events; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Vincent Sasso has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Vincent Sasso upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Amherst Davis Memorial Farmer Citizen of the Year Award by the Long
Island Farm Bureau; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Vincent Sasso.
