LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Fenimore Street United Methodist
Church upon the occasion of hosting its Heritage Day Celebration on
February 22, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Fenimore
Street United Methodist Church upon the occasion of hosting its Heritage
Day Celebration which was held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, in Brook-
lyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Eulalia Sentino is proud to have been chosen as
Guest Speaker for this auspicious event; in addition, Fenimore Street
United Methodist Church recognized its 2015 honorees at a ceremony
following morning worship services; and
WHEREAS, Embodying the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, the Fenimore
Street United Methodist Church strives to fulfill the cultural and spir-
itual needs of its Brooklyn community; and
WHEREAS, The 2015 Heritage Day Celebration recognizes the beauty and
greatness of African history and culture; and
WHEREAS, Fenimore Street United Methodist Church stands on the thresh-
old of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades
while retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions which have contributed to the spiritual
values and ethnic pride of their communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Fenimore Street United Methodist Church upon the occasion of
hosting its Heritage Day Celebration, fully confident that this commen-
dation reflects the belief in those cultural values which enhance the
dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Fenimore Street United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, New
York.
