LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 150th Anniversary of BASF, the
world's leading chemical company by sales
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those businesses which substantially contribute to the
economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commem-
orate the 150th Anniversary of BASF, the world's leading chemical compa-
ny by sales; and
WHEREAS, BASF Corporation is the North American affiliate of BASF SE,
Ludwigshafen, Germany; its headquarters is located in Florham Park, New
Jersey; in addition, there are four facilities located within New York:
East Setauket, Peekskill, Amherst, and a major research and development
hub in Tarrytown, which is leading the way in investigating new chemis-
tries for nutrition, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, alterna-
tive sources of energy, biomaterials, and electronic materials; and
WHEREAS, BASF's 17,000 employees create chemistry for a sustainable
future; they make everything from chemicals, plastics, performance
products, and crop protection products to oil and gas; and
WHEREAS, As the world's leading chemical company in sales, BASF
combines economic success with environmental protection and social
responsibility; through science and innovation, the business enables its
customers in nearly every industry to meet the current and future needs
of today's society; and
WHEREAS, BASF's commodities and solutions contribute to conserving
resources, ensuring nutrition and improving quality of life for future
generations; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate its 150th Anniversary, BASF is inviting people
to collaborate on developing solutions to global challenges related to
urban living, smart energy, and food throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, To spark the discussion, BASF has launched an interactive
platform titled Creator Space, where customers, scientists, the public
and BASF experts are invited to exchange thoughts and ideas; and
WHEREAS, BASF has pledged to use the information it has gleaned from
these pertinent discussions and use it to benefit our society as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 150th Anniversary of BASF, the world's leading chemical
company by sales; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to BASF.
