LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bonnie Hamilton upon the occasion of her
retirement as the Public Health Director of Delaware County after 17
years of distinguished service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bonnie Hamilton upon the occasion of her retirement as the Public Health
Director of Delaware County after 17 years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, For the past 17 years, Bonnie Hamilton rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service as Director of the Department of
Public Health; she will officially retire from this esteemed position on
April 18, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Bonnie Hamilton, began her illustrious career with the
Department of Public Health in 1976 as a public health nurse; after
leaving to raise her children, she returned in 1990 after seven years as
a nurse at O'Connor Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In December of 1997, Bonnie Hamilton was promoted to Director
of Public Health, prior to which time, she served as both a nurse and
supervising nurse; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Public Health Director, Bonnie Hamilton
served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and responsibil-
ities, Bonnie Hamilton's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in her commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Bonnie Hamilton was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Delaware County Public Health
Department, Bonnie Hamilton earned the admiration, esteem and affection
of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Mark, and their
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Bonnie Hamilton has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bonnie Hamilton upon the occasion of her retirement as the Public
Health Director of Delaware County after 17 years of distinguished
service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bonnie Hamilton.
