LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bryan LaVigne upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Pride Center of the Capital Region's
Community Center Award celebrated at the 2014 Pride Center Gala

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Bryan LaVigne
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Pride Center of
the Capital Region's Community Center Award celebrated at the 2014 Pride
Center Gala, on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Hilton Albany, in Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Pride Center of the Capital Region is dedicated to serv-
ing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ)
community in the Capital Region; the Pride Center has been meeting their
diverse needs since 1970; and
WHEREAS, The Pride Center holds an annual gala to raise needed funds
for its fundamental youth and senior programs and services; and
WHEREAS, Bryan LaVigne merited a Bachelor of Science degree in
Marketing/Management from Siena College and has also earned graduate
credits from both Sage and Union Colleges; in 2003, he attended the
Capital Leadership program; and
WHEREAS, Bryan LaVigne served as Chief Operating Officer at Girls
Incorporated of the Greater Capital Region for six years and for eight
years he was the Executive Director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Northeast New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 2011, Bryan LaVigne has been the Director of Adminis-
tration and Development at the Fiscal Policy Institute; he manages its
operations and fund development efforts; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bryan LaVigne is a member of the board or volun-
teers for many different organizations such as The Pride Center of the
Capital Region, Music Mobile, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Capital Repertory
Theater, Child's Nursing Home, Community Hospice, St. Mary's of Cres-
cent, and Schenectady Light Opera; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bryan LaVigne upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Pride Center of the Capital Region's Community Center Award cele-
brated at the 2014 Pride Center Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bryan LaVigne.
