LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 13th Anniversary of Fleurimond
Catering's Showcase and Gala on April 18, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 13th Anniversary of Fleurimond Catering's Showcase and Gala to
be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Broad Street Ball Room in
New York City; and
WHEREAS, Fleurimond Catering specializes in providing the most elegant
catering and event planning services in New York City and the Northeast;
its cuisine selections include American, French, Italian, Caribbean, and
Latin; and
WHEREAS, A full-service catering company, Fleurimond Catering provides
event coordination, and decor and event planning services; they also
host many cooking parties throughout New York City, educating individ-
uals how to cook their delicious dishes; and
WHEREAS, Through their catering services, Fleurimond Catering offers
the ability to travel the world via an eclectic sample of delicious food
offerings; its elegant and professional event planning services provide
a caring and talented staff who will treat any event, large or small, as
the event that is most important to them; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of owner Nadege Fleurimond,
utilizing her Haitian culinary background, Fleurimond Catering pulls in
flavors from Asia, Latin America, and Europe in all of their dishes; she
has catered for several celebrities and venues including Ann-Hauser
Busch, Paul Weiss, New York City Hall, BET, The Colbert Report, Dr.
Mehmet Oz, and Vivica Fox, just to name a few; and
WHEREAS, An author and successful entrepreneur, Nadege Fleurimond's
latest publication of HAITI UNCOVERED: A REGIONAL ADVENTURE INTO THE ART
OF HAITIAN CUISINE is a cookbook spotlighting the food of Haiti; and
WHEREAS, With varying interests in business, government, and social
issues, Nadege Fleurimond graduated with a degree in Political Science
from Columbia University; since 2008, she has been a food columnist for
the HAITIAN TIMES NEWSPAPER; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Nadege Fleurimond was invited to cater the Haitian
Flag Day Celebration at the White House; in July 2011, she was invited
as the special guest of honor to share her expertise on food at the
Guadeloupe Culinary Festival; and
WHEREAS, Nadege Fleurimond has received numerous awards and accolades
for her culinary expertise including the 2010 New York Media Alliance's
Ethnic Press Fellowship, and the 2011 Feet in Two Worlds Food Writers
Fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, in 2014, Nadege Fleurimond was invited by the
United States Embassy in Haiti to promote culinary diplomacy in Haiti;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to applaud and
support the entrepreneurs of small businesses such as Nadege Fleurimond
whose dedication and accomplishments contribute to the economic health
and vitality of the communities they serve in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 13th Anniversary of Fleurimond Catering's Showcase and
Gala on April 18, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nadege Fleurimond, Owner, Fleurimond Catering.
