LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charles W. Straub posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition by Rensselaer County
at its 2015 Honor-A-Deceased Veteran Ceremony

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles W. Straub posthumously upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Rensselaer County at its 2015 Honor-A-Deceased
Veteran Ceremony on Monday, April 13, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Born in Troy, New York, to Mary Courtney Van Wie and Charles
K. Straub, Charles W. Straub attended Public School 16, and was a grad-
uate of Troy High School; and
WHEREAS, In October of 1973, Charles W. Straub enlisted in the United
States Army and proudly served his country with honor and distinction;
in addition, he achieved the level of Expert M16 and received the
National Service Medal; and
WHEREAS, Following the completion of his military service in 1976,
Charles W. Straub worked as a production controller at the Watervliet
Arsenal for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Charles W. Straub married the former Theresa A. Jubic on
October 2, 1987, at St. Williams Church in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Charles W. Straub enjoyed skiing, play-
ing golf, and traveling; he was also a member of the American Legion and
the Veterans of Lansingburgh, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Charles W. Straub died on December 3, 2013; in addition to
his wife, Theresa, Charles W. Straub was the loving brother of four
sisters, Noreen, Kathleen, Tina, and the late Mary Ellen; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which Charles W. Straub served his country, and must recognize that
no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their lives for
their beloved Nation; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Charles W. Straub demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles W. Straub posthumously upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor-A-De-
ceased Veteran Ceremony; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Charles W. Straub.
