LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Benjamin E. Bardin, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin of Queensbury, New York died on March 8,
2015, at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 8, 1922, in Kingsbury, New York, to the
late Erwin and Edith Bardin, Benjamin E. Bardin graduated from Hudson
Falls High School in 1941; he was born into a farming family which
contributed to his core values and willingness to work; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin served his country proudly as a member of
the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged after four years;
and
WHEREAS, On May 1, 1944, Benjamin E. Bardin married Marjorie Goodman
in Fort Ann, New York; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the family farm, Benjamin E. Bardin went on to
work for Ingram's General Store at Oneida Corners; in 1958, he and his
wife bought the store, renaming it Bardin's General Store, and success-
fully ran the business for the next 29 years; and
WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, Benjamin E. Bardin enjoyed gardening at
the new home he built, golfing, and dinner with close friends on Friday
nights; he also enjoyed traveling, especially his time spent at Indian
Rocks Beach, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin's sincere dedication to his community was
apparent throughout his life; he was the founder and first chief of the
Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, and later he would serve as its presi-
dent and director; in January of 2014, Benjamin E. Bardin was honored
for his 65 years of distinguished service to the Bay Ridge Volunteer
Fire Company at its Annual Banquet; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin was the founding member of the Warren
County Fire Chiefs and Officers Association, and was instrumental in
starting the Bay Ridge Rescue Squad; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Benjamin E. Bardin was a charter member of the
Queensbury Kiwanis, and was active in their Annual Christmas Tree Sale
and Pancake Breakfast; he was also a member of the Mohican Grange Hall,
American Legion, and the Order of Free and Accepted Masons; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Benjamin E. Bardin was recognized for 50 years of
dedicated service by the Mount Hope Lodge in Fort Ann, New York; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man was a faithful member of Harrisena Commu-
nity Church for many years; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Bardin's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his parents, Benjamin E. Bardin was prede-
ceased by two brothers, Herbert and Erwin; he is survived by his wife of
70 years, Marjorie, and their daughter, Susan (Charles); one granddaugh-
ter, Lynn; two great-grandchildren, Lara and Blake; two sisters, Betty
(Lee), and Esther; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Benjamin E. Bardin leaves behind a legacy which will long

endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Benjamin E. Bardin, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Benjamin E. Bardin.
