LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the City of Tonawanda Public Library
upon the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary on April 15, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the City of Tonawanda Public Library upon the occasion of celebrating
its 50th Anniversary on Wednesday, April 15, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1965, the City of Tonawanda Public Library
will recognize this auspicious milestone with an open house including a
display of pastels and Chinese brush painting, harp music, the Edward G.
Mayes Erie Canal Art Exhibit, children's crafts, a library history pres-
entation, and light refreshments; and
WHEREAS, Serving the Tonawanda community for five decades from 333
Main Street, the City of Tonawanda Public Library is a part of the
Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System; and
WHEREAS, The success of the City of Tonawanda Public Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the City of
Tonawanda Public Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth,
as it looks forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and
intellectual needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the City of Tonawanda Public Library upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 50th Anniversary on April 15, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the City of Tonawanda Public Library.
