LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Fodera Family upon the occasion of
being named 2015 Gala Honorees by the Federation of Italian American
Organizations of Brooklyn

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Fodera Family have given not only of their time and ener-
gies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the Fodera
Family upon the occasion of being named 2015 Gala Honorees by the Feder-
ation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn, to be celebrated at
its 38th Annual Fundraising Gala on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at El Caribe
Country Club in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Foderas have been called upon to contribute their time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and have always
given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Roseann and Richard Fodera, along with their children, Aria-
na, Alessandra and Richard John II, are lifelong residents of Brooklyn,
New York; Roseann and Richard both attended Fordham University where
Roseann earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Sociology and Rich-
ard received a Bachelor's degree in Economics; and
WHEREAS, Upon their graduation, together the couple went on to attend
Brooklyn Law School, during which time they were married in June of
1987; Richard received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law in 1988, and
Roseann her Juris Doctor in 1989; and
WHEREAS, Richard Fodera began his illustrious career as a Law Clerk at
Kirk, O'Connell and Stark while attending Brooklyn Law School; he
remained at the firm upon passing the Bar and began practicing as a
Trial Attorney; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Richard Fodera was appointed Attorney of Record at
the firm and is now a Partner in the Law Offices of Harris, King, Fodera
& Correia, the successor to Kirk, O'Connell and Stark; he practices in
the areas of general and automobile liability, as well as
construction/worksite accidents and product liability; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Brooklyn Bar Association, New York State
Trial Lawyers Association, Bay Ridge Lawyers Association and Columbian
Lawyers Association, Richard Fodera also serves on the Kings County
Supreme Court Civil Forum, where select attorneys join the Administra-
tive Judge to deal with complex legal and procedural issues; and
WHEREAS, Roseann Fodera began her career as a law clerk at Wingate &
Cullen while attending Brooklyn Law School; upon passing the Bar she
began practicing at the Law Office of Gregory Messer, Trustee, special-
izing in Bankruptcy Law and Real Estate transactions; she has been a
member of Bay Ridge Lawyers Association and the Brooklyn Bar Association
Bankruptcy Committee; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast dedication to her community, Roseann Fodera
is an active and supportive Visitation Academy and Fontbonne Hall Acade-
my alumna; she has served on Visitation Academy's Mother's Club Board of
Directors in various capacities for more than eight years while her
daughters were in attendance at the Academy; she was also designated as
the 2010 American Cancer Society Relay for Life Honorary Survivor; and
WHEREAS, The Fodera children have each established a high standard of
academic excellence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youth-
ful years; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Fodera is currently in her second year at New York Law
School; she earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Ford-
ham University in 2013, during which time she was the recipient of the
Father McShane Community Service Award for her dedication to Peer Health
Exchange and City Squash groups which provided health classes and tutor-
ing services to underserved inner city public schools; and
WHEREAS, Currently in her third year at Georgetown University, Ales-
sandra Fodera is a Pre-Med student concentrating in Public Health; she
is a member of the Varsity Men's Crew Team, she volunteers in the pedia-
tric unit of Medstar Georgetown Hospital and is employed by the Dean of
International Programming at Georgetown Medical School; in addition, she
was recently accepted as an early action candidate to University of
Toledo Medical School; and
WHEREAS, An avid basketball player, Richard John Fodera II is current-
ly in eighth grade at Genesis at Xaverian; he looks forward to gradu-
ation in June, and will be attending Xavier High School in the fall as a
member of the Class of 2019; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which the Foderas have displayed throughout
their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Fodera Family upon the occasion of being named 2015 Gala Hono-
rees by the Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn,
and to wish them continued success in all of their future endeavors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Fodera Family.
