LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lina Gottesman upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2015 Long Island Center for Business and Professional
Women Achiever
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lina
Gottesman upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015 Long Island
Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the Center's 36th Annual Achievers'
Awards Gala, to be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, the Long Island Center for Business
and Professional Women has been dedicated to advancing women in busi-
ness, industry and the professions; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women
celebrate and honor women who are leaders, mentors and who have opened
doors for other women to help foster their rise in business, the
professions and in their community; Lina Gottesman is one such individ-
ual; and
WHEREAS, Born near Naples, Italy, Lina Gottesman came to the United
States at age three, and was introduced to the construction business
early on through a Long Island-based stone and masonry company run by
her father and uncles; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Lina Gottesman returned to her roots and founded
Altus Metal & Marble Maintenance; Altus, the Greek symbol of excellence,
demonstrates her company's commitment to high quality workmanship; and
WHEREAS, For over 25 years, Altus Metal & Marble Maintenance, a certi-
fied Woman-Owned Business Enterprise based in Smithtown, Long Island,
has performed restorations for numerous prominent commercial, residen-
tial, and historic buildings in the metropolitan area including: the
World Trade Buildings 1 and 2; Grand Central Terminal; The Port Authori-
ty Bus Terminal; Columbia University; Carnegie Hall; The Empire State
Building; The New York City Public Library; and Macy's Herald Square;
and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Lina Gottesman, Altus Metal &
Marble Maintenance is certified with many major public agencies such as
New York City Small Business Services, Port Authority of New York and
New Jersey (PANYNJ), MTA, New York Empire State Development Corporation,
and the New York City School Construction Authority; and
WHEREAS, Today, Lina Gottesman is applying the business acumen she
honed and developed through Altus Metal & Marble Maintenance to a new
venture, RN Nurses Evolve PLLC; and
WHEREAS, A Registered Nurse who attended St. Luke's Hospital School of
Nursing, St. John's University, and NYU, Lina Gottesman created RN Nurs-
es Evolve PLLC to provide contract advanced practice registered nurses
to the industry in response to the unprecedented demand for nurse prac-
titioners and the growing challenges of today's healthcare environment;
and
WHEREAS, Lina Gottesman has been recognized for her exemplary business
expertise with Altus Metal & Marble Maintenance throughout the New York
and New Jersey area including the Regional Alliance for Small Contrac-
tors, and the PANYNJ at the Competitive Edge Conference; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community as well as her profession, Lina
Gottesman serves on the board of the New York Women's Agenda, and the
New York Women's Chamber of Commerce; she is also Treasurer of St.
Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, and a member of
the Women Presidents' Organization; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Robert, and their
three children, as well as three grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lina Gottesman upon the occasion of her designation as a 2015 Long
Island Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lina Gottesman.
