LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Brianna Friend upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Silver Award

WHEREAS, Brianna Friend will be honored with the Girl Scout Silver
Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second high-
est achievement, at the annual NYPENN Pathways Council's Young Women of
Distinction Event; and
WHEREAS, Brianna Friend is a member of Girl Scouts of America Troop
42004, in Horseheads, New York; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and
encouraging community, service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, For her Silver Award community service project, Brianna
Friend, and three other Girl Scouts, Allison King, Emily Bancroft, and
Mackenzie Bancroft, organized a food drive and collected supplies for
the Horseheads Food Pantry; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Scouts gathered movies, CDs, crafts and
other activity supplies and put together carts for the residents at St.
Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility to check out and bring to their rooms;
and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Brianna Friend's high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Brianna Friend for her achievement in earning the Girl Scout
Silver Award and wishing her success, health and happiness; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brianna Friend.
