LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Coach Jim Hoover upon the occasion
of celebrating his 300th career victory as Head Coach of the Walton
Central School Varsity Football Team

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend notable
educators and athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire
State, and who have distinguished themselves and their schools through
outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Coach Jim Hoover upon the occasion of celebrating his 300th career
victory as Head Coach of the Walton Central School Varsity Football
Team; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of this auspicious occasion, Coach Jim Hoover
was honored at a ceremony held at the field which bears his name, in
Walton, New York; he was also presented with a memorial plaque and ball
from the school, as well as a proclamation declaring Saturday, September
27, 2014, as Jim Hoover Day; and
WHEREAS, Coach Jim Hoover became the first football coach in Section
IV history to reach the 300 win mark when his Walton Warriors Football
Team defeated Harpursville/Alton High School 20-6 in Harpursville, New
York, on Monday, September 13, 2014; and
WHEREAS, For the past 39 years, Coach Jim Hoover has superbly mentored
and guided young athletes to success on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious tenure as coach of the Warriors, Coach
Jim Hoover achieved an outstanding career record which included 306
wins; in addition, his teams captured 14 Section IV Championships, 9 New
York State Regional Championships, and two New York State Championships;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this remarkable man was named Coach of the Year
three times by the PRESS AND SUN BULLETIN and 11 times by THE DAILY
STAR; and
WHEREAS, Coach Jim Hoover's positive demeanor, selfless commitment,
and caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach
and mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his communi-
ty, his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, to
congratulate Coach Jim Hoover upon the occasion of celebrating his 300th
career victory as Head Coach of the Walton Central School Varsity Foot-
ball Team; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Jim Hoover.
