LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kingsway Community upon the occasion of
its designation as 2015 Corporate Philanthropist of the Year by the
Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those busi-
nesses and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kingsway
Community upon the occasion of its designation as 2015 Corporate Philan-
thropist of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New
York, to be celebrated at its Gala Event, "An Evening to End
Alzheimer's," on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga
Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary
health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate
Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, provide and
enhance care and support for all affected, and reduce the risk of demen-
tia through the promotion of brain health; and
WHEREAS, The residents and staff of the Kingsway Community have been
called upon to contribute their time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, For more than 10 years, residents of the Kingsway Community
have participated in numerous activities, such as both bake and soup
sales, Chinese auctions, garage sales, and an evening featuring an Elvis
impersonator, in order to raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer's;
and
WHEREAS, The residents of Kingsway Community also participate in a
penny stroll, in which they trek around the Kingsway campus, collecting
donations along the way; as enthusiasm for the Walk to End Alzheimer's
has increased each year, so has the amount of money raised; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when businesses
and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citi-
zens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kingsway Community upon the occasion of its designation as 2015
Corporate Philanthropist of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of
Northeastern New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kingsway Community.
