LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anthony Caropreso upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Eastern Contractors Asso-
ciation on April 24, 2015
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Caropreso has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Anthony
Caropreso upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Eastern Contractors Association, to be celebrated on April 24,
2015; and
WHEREAS, Eastern Contractors Association (ECA) traces its history back
to 1890 and the Albany Builders Exchange, which eventually merged with
the organizations in Schenectady and Troy; what began as individual
efforts by the contractors in the three distinct cities 125 years ago,
has grown into a full-service Association serving the needs of all
segments of the construction industry; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Caropreso, affectionately known as Tony, has been
called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For more than one third of Eastern Contractors Association's
125-year history, Tony Caropreso has been its one constant; starting
with ECA in 1969 as Assistant Managing Director, he was instrumental in
the success of such projects as the Empire State Plaza construction and
the groundbreaking of ECA's current home, the Building Industry Center;
and
WHEREAS, After 14 years of distinguished service, Tony Caropreso was
promoted to Managing Director of the Association, the esteemed position
he held for more than two decades; during this time, he led contract
negotiations with numerous union organizations, provided guidance to
contractors and grew the organization's program offerings; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he became a leader within the broader industry,
sitting on numerous committees and heading up state, regional and
national groups for the betterment of ECA, its members and the
construction community; and
WHEREAS, As one of the most respected Trustees on jointly-administered
Fringe Benefit Funds, Tony Caropreso was honored by his peers when he
was elected President and Chairman of the Board of the International
Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans in 2000; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Tony Caropreso stepped down as Managing Director and
assumed the position of Labor Relations Director; since then, he has
continued to assist in negotiating and administering Collective Bargain-
ing Agreements and resolving jurisdictional disputes and grievances; and
WHEREAS, For nearly five decades, Tony Caropreso has made a profound
impression on countless people both professionally and personally with
his unwavering friendship, contributions and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Tony Caropreso has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Tony Caropreso has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony Caropreso upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Eastern Contractors Association on April 24, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony Caropreso.
