LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donna Stressel-Tice upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Fred G. Field Transportation Award
by the Colonie Senior Service Centers

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Donna Stressel-Tice has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Donna Stres-
sel-Tice upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Fred
G. Field Transportation Award by Colonie Senior Service Centers; this
momentous occasion was celebrated at its 13th Annual Founders' Awards
Dinner on Monday, October 20, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) is a nonprofit,
community-based senior service organization serving seniors and their
families throughout the Capital Region for the past 30 years; each year
the Founders' Award Dinner honors six businesses and community leaders
who reflect the commitment, vision and leadership exemplified by the
founders of CSSC; and
WHEREAS, Donna Stressel-Tice has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An Occupational Therapist with Driving Rehabilitation
Services at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, New York,
Donna Stressel-Tice has dedicated an extraordinary amount of her time
and talent to helping older drivers stay on the road safer and longer;
and
WHEREAS, Donna Stressel-Tice has worked tirelessly at the CarFit Clin-
ics hosted by CSSC's Driver Fitness Centers and other to help seniors
find ways to be safe behind the wheel; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Guilderland, Donna Stressel-Tice is a regis-
tered and licensed occupational therapist, a certified driver instructor
in New York State, and a certified driver rehabilitation specialist; and
WHEREAS, Among countless accomplishments, Donna Stressel-Tice was
asked to serve on an expert National Elder Driving Panel in Washington,
D.C. to review the driving errors experienced by elderly drivers and
make recommendations for improving elder driver safety; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Donna Stressel-Tice has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Donna Stressel-Tice has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore; be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donna Stressel-Tice upon the occasion of her designation as recip-
ient of the Fred G. Field Transportation Award by the Colonie Senior
Service Centers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donna Stressel-Tice.
