LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Augustus Weinraub upon the occasion of
being named an Outstanding Student by the Capital District YMCA on April
28, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Augustus Weinraub upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding
Student by the Capital District YMCA, at its 18th Annual Student and
Educator Awards Breakfast Reception, on April 28, 2015, at the Appel
Inn, Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, This commendation honors high school students and educators
from Guilderland, Voorheesville, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, and
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High Schools; 15 students and 3 educators are
selected as overall winners for their dedication to service in their
schools, community, and local YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Augustus Weinraub is currently a junior at Bethlehem Central
High School; this exceptional young man is extremely dedicated in giving
back to both his school and his community; and
WHEREAS, Augustus Weinraub has participated in various volunteer
activities such as assisting with several children's programs at the
Bethlehem Public Library, and working at the Center for Law and Justice,
a grassroots organization in Albany, New York, that focuses on criminal
justice reform and civil rights; and
WHEREAS, In his school, Augustus Weinraub tutors other students and is
a member of both the French and Latin Club, including the Junior Clas-
sical League; in addition, he holds the position of Editor of THE THINK-
ING REED, and is a Staff Writer for THE TALON; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Augustus Weinraub represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Augustus Weinraub continued success throughout his school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Augustus Weinraub upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding
Student by the Capital District YMCA on April 28, 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Augustus Weinraub.
