LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring A. Alan Seidman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boy
Scouts of America, Hudson Valley Council

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor A.
Alan Seidman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boy Scouts of America, Hudson Valley
Council, to be celebrated at its Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner on
Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the West Hills Country Club, Middletown,
New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, A. Alan Seidman has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and
profession and consequently has been designated for this most presti-
gious honor; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Cornwall, New York, A. Alan Seidman
graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1970, before attending
Emerson College in Boston where he earned a bachelor's degree in Commu-
nications in 1974, as well as a master's degree in Communications the
following year; and
WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his studies, A. Alan Seidman joined
the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps, becoming its President for the
first time in 1977; one year later he joined the Cornwall Fire Depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Ambulance Corps and the Cornwall Lions
Club, A. Alan Seidman chaired the health screening project in conjunc-
tion with Cornwall Hospital for many years; his connection with Emergen-
cy Service continued when he served on the American Red Cross Orange
Chapter Board of Directors and the Disaster Relief Team; and
WHEREAS, A. Alan Seidman's strong patriotic beliefs have led to his
participation in and chairing of the Military Appreciation Picnic at
Stewart Airport; he also serves on the Board of the Purple Heart Hall of
Honor and currently chairs its building committee; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, A. Alan Seidman has been a steadfast
advocate for numerous youth related causes; he has actively participated
with the Boy Scouts on both the local and district levels and, in 2004,
he received the Boy Scouts Distinguished Service Award; and
WHEREAS, A. Alan Seidman's unwavering dedication to community service
includes more than two decades as a Rotarian, during which time he
served as co-chair of the annual food basket program; and
WHEREAS, Serving in the Orange County Legislature for 20 years,
including four as its chair, A. Alan Seidman has also served on the
Board of the Orange County Partnership since 2002; he is an Emeritus
Member of the Orange County Chamber Board; and
WHEREAS, Today, A. Alan Seidman is on the Board of Pattern for
Progress with the Hudson Valley Regional Council, and is President of
Temple Beth Jacob in Newburgh; he also serves as Executive Director of
Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Robin, and their
three children, Adam, Mark and Sarah, as well as four grandchildren, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which A. Alan Seidman has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor A. Alan Seidman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boy Scouts of America, Hudson
Valley Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to A. Alan Seidman.
