LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael A. Kiernan upon the occasion of
his retirement as Carthage Postmaster with the United States Postal
Service

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael A.
Kiernan upon the occasion of his retirement as Carthage Postmaster with
the United States Postal Service; and
WHEREAS, Michael A. Kiernan retired on March 31, 2015, after 31 years
of distinguished service in various positions with the United States
Postal Service; and
WHEREAS, Michael A. Kiernan began his career with the Postal Service
in 1984 as a mail carrier in Fulton, New York; and
WHEREAS, He also worked for postal offices in Schenectady, Saratoga
and Phoenix, and eventually as a Superintendent in Baldwinsville, there-
after spending 15 years in Gouverneur; and
WHEREAS, In 2007, Michael A. Kiernan became the Officer in Charge at
the Carthage Post Office and later moved into the position of Carthage
Postmaster, the position from which he will officially retire March 31,
2015; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Michael A. Kiernan
has enjoyed interacting with his North Country Postal customers and with
his dedicated fellow employees; and
WHEREAS, An individual who has truly gone above and beyond to excel in
his career and give back to the local community, Michael A. Kiernan has
made a difference with his dedication to public service; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael A. Kiernan upon the occasion of his retirement as Carthage
Postmaster with the United States Postal Service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael A. Kiernan.
